Private beta

Help shape the workbench your team has wanted.

We are opening Northing to a small group of GIS professionals who will use it on real work and tell us the truth about it. If that sounds like you, we would love to have you.

Request access

Get on the list.

Invitations are going out in small groups. Leave your details and we will email you the moment your spot opens, with everything you need to get started.

We use your email only to contact you about the Northing beta. No newsletters, no sharing.

Computer you would use

  • The whole app

Every feature in the current build: maps, print, the assistant, publishing and pushing, nothing held back.

  • Thirty days, then more

Your license runs 30 days from the day you activate it. Need longer? Ask for more time from inside the app.

  • Up to two Macs

Use it on your office machine and your laptop. Move a license between machines whenever you like.

  • A line to the builders

Your reports go straight to the people writing the code, and they decide what gets built next.

How it works

From request to first map.

Four steps, and only the first one is up to you.

Start your request
  1. 01

    Request access

Join the waitlist with your name and work email, and your organization and role if you like. It takes a minute and asks for no payment details.

  2. 02

    We review it

Every request is read by a person. We are looking for GIS analysts, technicians and engineers with real work to try it on.

  3. 03

    Your key arrives

Once approved, your license key comes by email with a link to the getting started guide. Sign in to the portal any time to see your license and machines.

  4. 04

    Activate and go

Open Northing, paste the key, and you are in. Start with the offline sample data, or connect your ArcGIS portal right away.

What you need
  • A Mac running macOS 11 Big Sur or laterRequired
  • An ArcGIS Online or Enterprise account, to work with your own layersOptional
  • An AI model key or plan, to use the assistantOptional

No portal or model yet? The built-in sample data lets you try maps, SQL and print completely offline.

What we ask of you
  • Use it on real tasks. A notification radius, a map for a meeting, a quality check.
  • Tell us when it gets in the way. One click saves diagnostics to attach to a report.
  • Be candid. What would stop you from using it every day is the most useful thing you can say.
Questions

Before you ask.

Anything else is probably in the documentation.

Does my GIS data get sent to Northing?

No. Your workspace is a database file on your own computer. Data leaves it only when you publish or push to your ArcGIS organization, or send a question to the AI provider you connected. Activation and license checks send your license key and a machine identifier to the licensing service, nothing more.

Do I need ArcGIS Pro?

No. Northing reads from and publishes to ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise directly. Many testers keep Pro open alongside it for comparison, which is exactly the kind of feedback we want.

Do I need an AI subscription?

No. Maps, tables, SQL, geoprocessing, print and publishing all work without a model. The assistant needs one: an API key from Anthropic or OpenAI, a ChatGPT plan, your organization's Azure OpenAI or Amazon Bedrock, or a free model running on your own machine.

Should I use it on live data?

Use copies to start. Pull from your production layers freely, since pulling never changes them, but test pushes and publishing against a test layer or folder until you trust the results.

Is there a Windows version?

Windows builds are being validated now. Say so in your request if Windows is what your office runs, and we will let you know when it is ready to test.

Can my whole team join?

Yes. Each person requests access with their own work email. If your IT department needs to deploy it to many machines at once, mention it in your request; organization licenses are on the way.

What happens when the beta ends?

Beta licenses stop at the beta's end date, which you will know well in advance. Your workspace, maps and exports are files on your computer and stay yours.

Ready when you are.

Request access now and we will be in touch. Read the docs in the meantime, so you can hit the ground running.
